My telco provider states they will supply the PRIs on a Lucent 5ESS "custom" switch, but all the Cisco docs refer to "global isdn switch-type = primary-5ess" as a "basic" switch. My telco says the difference lies in the protocol config on their ISDN switch. Are there any known issues with an AT&T 5ESS "custom" config vs. the AS5400's "primary-5ess" config? Is there anything I (or my telco) needs to know? Are there any bugs or compatibility problems [AS5400 was shipped with 12.2(12a) IOS] that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

No..there are no issues like that. If telco says that PRI line from their switch has 5ESS protocol, then you need to use switch type as "primary-5ess" on 5400.
