Hi,

will a mixture of both isl-isl and dot1q-dot1q work in a VTP domain? must it be a pure dot1q or isl environment?

VTP is independent of trunk encapsulation. It should work fine.

I would definitely recommend keeping a standard trunk encapsulation. dot1q is always preferrable since its and open standard.
