Hi,

I searched Cisco catalyst switches products for PoE support, and all of these are layer3 switches like 3560 and 3750, but the new Catalyst 500 switches support this feature but not all of its ports.

Does any other Layer2 switches support PoE?

thanks in advance

Hi,

About the only option you have is the Cisco Catalyst Express 500-24PC, which has Twenty-four 10/100 PoE ports. The next step up is really the 3560/3750 type switches. There is nothing in between.

802.3af is supported on all of the new catalyst switches but they all happen to be all L3 switches, as you mentioned.

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.

You have two options.

a. Use your existing non POE L2 switch and use a third party inline power patch panel device like PowerDsine.

http://www.powerdsine.com/

b. Use a L2 POE switch like Catalyst Express 500 series. You have two options with in this.

WS-CE500-24PC - which is a 24 port 10/100 POE L2 swtich

or

WS-CE500-24LC - which has 4 ports that are POE and rest are non POE.

YOu can read more about 500 series here.
