Hi, I've got two Cisco 3620s using 2 E1 channels back-to-back, that I want to load balance over. I seem to have a choice of per-destination or per-packet. Am I right in thinking that per-packet is very CPU intensive and that the 3620 might not cope and that I should use fast-switching (ip route-cache) and use per destination? If the CPU was not an issue, when would per-packet be prefereable to per-destination?
Thanks, Lee.

Hi.
If you use CEF switching and per-packet load-balancing you will have a better load-sharing among the E1s, and CPU load will not be an issue.

Thank you... I guess as the 3620 doesn't have CEF, I should stick to per-destination load balancing?

Hi.
According to the Feature Navigator CEF is supported on 3620s. But ok... If I were you I would try it.
