Monitoring performance of Catalyst 3550 and 3524XL switches

We have Catalyst 3550-48 & 3524XL switches supporting the servers on our LAN. Based on complaints received about server response speeds, we wanted to examine the switch performance., more specifically the types of traffic. The layer 3 [core] switch performance was satisfactory

The following commands were used on the Catalyst 3550 revealing that the % CPU utilization was close to 45% but did not help much:

Switch# show ip traffic

Switch# show processes cpu

Please advise on other commands available which might help us to this effect.

You may have want to observe the ports that these servers are connected to and also all the trunks that may be used by the endstations to access these servers.

If you observe some consistent over utilization, you can think of some loadbalancing on these trunks, by tuning the spanning tree parameters,etc.
