Hi, im trying to add another Win2k Domain Controller to an existing domain that is based on another Vlan.

Every time i perform this operation i get the error msg "Network path not Found", if i try this operation on the same vlan with another server is performs perfectly.

Also i can add the new win2k server on vlan2 as a member server after using the ip helper address command on, int vlan2 ,but this i feel only uses netbios over tcpip, where AD requires the full qualified domain name.

Help!!!

I just did the same thing in a Cat4k Sup03 environment. You have to make sure that NBT is enabled on all clients that will join the Domain if they are on separate VLANs. Also, I had to enable helper-address on the default VLAN for this to work for me. The MS Domain model in AD can span VLANs, but when you bring up a new server in a different VLAN, or have clients that need to join the Domain from a different VLAN, esp if they are across a trunk, MS still uses NetBIOS broadcasts to locate the existing Domain. All clients and servers will use NBT to join the Domain. And MS will use NBT to populate the Network Neighborhood. The DC that acts as the Master Browser will only populate Net Neigh. with what it sees via NBT, as far as I can tell.

Hope this helps.
