need help config 2948G-L3

Hello ,

I got exposed to IOS in a class I took 6 months ago..so I am rusty indeed. I just got this 2948G-L3 router /switch and cant seem to get off the grounf configging it.... anyone have a brief outline of the steps I have to this point gone through the configuration dialog.... and assigned an IP to the mgmt port..... but no matter what I do the port is down and the line protocol is down...I have issued the no shutdown command for this interface but nothing seems to change........

are you sure this is a 2948G-L3? The reason I ask is because in your post you said "assigned an IP to the mgmt port". This sounds like CatOS.

The L3 switch uses a standard Cisco IOS (like a router) and does IRB (Integrated Routing and Bridging) using BVIs and port-channels.
