Is anyone using Cisco NetFlow statistics to understand applications traversing their WAN?

Yes I am using it in our offices and it's providing good information and helps us get near real time information and compile graphical stats on our WAN. Would recommend flow-tools on LINUX. Works a charm!

I am using Cisco NetFlow statistics to monitor serial links. I send the statistics to an old Cisco SwitchProbe I bought off ebay for $200. I then forward those results to nGenius Real Time Monitor. Works great, highly reccomend doing this. If you really want to run a poor man's netflow jobber, lookup nTop. Runs on Windows and Linux.
