Hello!
Could anyone explain me why does a MN-2CE1B show up as "unbalanced"? (see the output of commands sh contr e1 and sh diag below). Acording to the specs this is balanced card.
Router#sh controllers E1
E1 1/0 is down.
Applique type is Channelized E1 - unbalanced
Transmitter is sending remote alarm.
Receiver has loss of signal.
Framing is CRC4, Line Code is HDB3, Clock Source is Line.
Data in current interval (430 seconds elapsed):
0 Line Code Violations, 0 Path Code Violations
0 Slip Secs, 430 Fr Loss Secs, 0 Line Err Secs, 0 Degraded Mins
0 Errored Secs, 0 Bursty Err Secs, 0 Severely Err Secs, 430 Unavail Secs
Total Data (last 1 15 minute intervals):
0 Line Code Violations, 0 Path Code Violations,
1 Slip Secs, 900 Fr Loss Secs, 0 Line Err Secs, 0 Degraded Mins,
0 Errored Secs, 0 Bursty Err Secs, 0 Severely Err Secs, 900 Unavail Secs

Check for the labelling and whether you have bought the correct card type or there is any mismatch in the labeling of the card.

Balanced type has a 120 ohm RJ-45 type connector whereas unbalanced has BNC 75 ohm type connector.

I think you're confused with E3 or other cards.
NM-xCE1x cards all have a DB15 connector.

Please take a look at this conversation where they talk about jumpers:

Thank You guys for your answers. I contacted Cisco TAC and its 99% mistake at Cisco plant. Modules, bags and boxes marked as MN-2CE1B, but modules are MN-2CE1U indeed.

Hi,
On NM-2CE1B there is a jumper to switch from balanced to unbalanced. Position 1-2 for unbalanced and 2-3 for balanced.
