On-board FLASH and PCMCIA FLASH

I have a 3600 router with 8MB on-board FLASH. I need to install 12.2 IOS which requires 16MB FLASH minimum.

I have a 8MB PCMCIA FLASH that I plug in. When I execute "sh flash" it shows only the on-board FLASH. When I execute "sh slot0:" it shows the PCMCIA FLASH. When I execute "sh version" it shows both.

Can I say that my FLASH now is 16MB and I can install the IOS?

Or, do I need to purchase 16MB PCMCIA FLASH?

NOTE: I cannot try it because I don't have the IOS yet.

Thanks in advance.

The IOS image must reside on a single flash partiition and unfortunatley you can not combine both the onboard flash and the PCMCIA card into a single partiition. You will need to either upgrade the onboard flash SIM or install a larger capacity flash card.
