This is one of those things I wrote down how to do years ago, and I can't find that note now that I'm doing this again.
I'm setting up a fresh hpov system to poll and monitor a network for a customer. Does anyone know how to do the correct correlation of "Openview" ifindexes/interface numbering to Real Cisco names in the Alarm/Event log? ie: I get "Interface 1310 is exceeding threshold xxxx" or an Incorrect Serial Interface identifier... Instead of Serial4/0/4:0.16 Blah Blah Blah.
Thanks in advance

HP OV 6.2* support this correlation (should 8-) )
but if you have some of new IOSes try to use
snmp-server ifindex persist
command

Per http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios121/121newft/121t/121t5/dt5ifidx.htm, this command was introduced in 12.0(11)S and then integrated in 12.1(5)T.
