Paradyne 9580 using ATM transparent mode?

We have a Paradyne 9580 that is converting from an MCI ATM network to frame-relay on a Cisco 7200 Hssi port. The other end connects the MCI ATM network directly into a native ATM card on another 7200 (PA-A3 card).

The Paradyne is using 'transparent' mode, and from what I have read on Cisco web, when using this mode for internetworking, we should use frame-r encapsulation of ietf, and atm encap of aal5nlpid.

Will this work? Currently, we have atm encap of aal5snap configured, and I can't ping either side. Also, will this atm encap allow for full ip routing tables to be passed between routers?

Thanks,

Chuck

If the IWF does transparent mode, then you need indeed NLPID on the ATM router.

With this encapsulation, you will be able to have full IP routing tables passed between the router but make sure then that broadcasts are allowed on the ATM and FR PVC.
