Hi,
Can somebody confirm if PNNI will work on an MGX8850-PXM1E connected to a BPX without having a SES PNNI controller?

You can configure it as a feeder node.

hi,
we can't configure it as a feeder node since we don't want our MGXs be part of the ATM network.
It says on the documentation that PNNI will not run if the BPX does not have a SES PNNI controller.
This is correct, right?

Hi,
No. The BPX does not have any built-in PNNI capabilities. You need an SES PNNI controller if you want the BPX to talk PNNI.
Cheers.

hi paresh,
with the BPX having no PNNI controller, any workaround with this setup to run PNNI?
Note: Link between BPXs is a 45Mbps VP tunnel.
MGX8850PXM1E--|BPX8600|------|BPX8600|--MGX8850PXM1E | (45 Mbps VP tunnel)
thanks.

Howdy,
If the link between the BPX ports to which the MGXs connect is a VP tunnel, you should be able to transparently tunnel PNNI over the AutoRoute PVP.
Please see the following references for details on hw to do so (beware wrapping):
This feature is referred to as a PNNI virtual trunk.
Hope that helps,
Paresh.
Cheers,
Paresh.

Paresh hi,
Thanks very much for the link. We'll try to coordinate with the SP to check their config as our MGXs were already configured as VNNI.
Best regards,
Maria
