I am getting a console message of:

18w6d: %SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL: Memory allocation of 1680 bytes failed from 0x13CC08, pool I/O, alignment 0

-Process= "Pool Manager", ipl= 6, pid= 5

-Traceback= 17A57C 17BA24 13CC0C 18746C 19A194

on a cisco 3550 12G with a IOS Version 12.1(8)EA1c.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Following is the reason and recommended action :

Reason : The requested memory allocation is not available from the specified memory pool. The router memory has been exhausted or fragmented. This condition may be caused by the current system configuration, the network environment, or a software error.

Recommended Action: Check the minimum memory requirements for your system configuration. If your system meets those requirements, this condition is probably caused by a software failure. To take advantage of recent fixes, upgrade your system to the latest Cisco IOS software release in your release train.
