Hi,
I decided to implement CGMP rather than IGMP Snooping to prevent mcast flooding on switches. This seems easy to configure when you have last hop router,ONE switch and than receiver. But, how to configure CGMP when you have TWO L2 switches before receiver, like on this scheme ? Can you configure CGMP on both switch ?
Router -> Switch -> Switch -> Receiver
Thanks.

YES.
You should enable CGMP on ALL switches in your LAN.

IGMP snooping is better than CGMP. you can either CGMP/IGMP snooping in your topology.

Could you tell me why in your opinion is ICMP snooping is better?
I've read that when you enable IGMP Snooping then switch listen to ALL layer 2 multicast packets in order to identify IGMP packet. This can have a significant impact on the switchs performance. That was the reason why I decided to use CGMP.
