problem in routing.............

If somebody can help...........pls...thanx in advance

It is a bit complex..... so pls sketch as you read..

we have one romote branch B connected through lease line (805 router) to our central office 3660 router. As a backup we have isdn connection(700 router) from that branch using 1 channel to our PRI line in the same 3660 router.

Now another branch C is connecting to the same branch B's 700 router using the other isdn channel and in turn getting connected to central office.

We are maintaing static routes everywhere. When Branch B's lease line is down both the branches are getting connected via ISDN of branch B to our PRI.

Now I have to configure branch C's 700 router to use another channel to dial up to our Central site in case Branch B is down totally( that is both ISDN and lease line)......

Initially first route was given for branch C via Branch B's lease line router with metric 1

Second route for Branch C is through ISDN router of branch B with metric 2

Till now it was working fine.....

But now when I am giving the 3rd route for branch C with metric 3 towards Wan Interface of 700 in Branch C it is not taking........that is router is not routing the route through metric 3...it is always using metric2 route.....since in PRI interface line protocol is always showing up ....

Can anybode give me some solution...any solution....... I will be grateful to him.....

If reqd. pls mail me at sur_babu@yahoo.com

Thanx again in advance.......

Greetings:

I hope I've got your scenario correct.

I would run RIP between the 700's and on the branch C router, put a default static route with a lower metric than RIP pointing to the 3600. That way if it did not get a default route from B, it would then dial the main branch itself. I would have Branch B dial C so that C does not need any other statics. If you want C to dial, put a route to the LAN on B.

Good luck!!!! Steve

How did you do the static route? Provide the exact command minus the ip address if you can.
