Production Router As FR Switch

Is it a good or bad idea to use our core router (Cisco 2600) as a Frame Relay switch?

We currently have 15 sites, and approximately 100 workstations. The data traversing the network is not intensive.

I ask because I've never heard of a router being used as a Frame Relay switch (other than in a lab).

TIA!

The FR switch configurationson Cisco routers were intended for lab purposes. You cannot do any kind of Layer 2 qos mechanisms, that carrier class FR switches used by service providers. I dont see any reason, why you should go for a router configured as a frame-relay switch.
