Does anyone have a "Rule of thumb" or calculation that they follow to determine what is a good round-trip time when doing a ping or traceroute? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Doug

round trip time is based on distance, I beleive that it something like 1 ms per 100 miles , coast to coast 70 ms is very good time. Ping is a better tool than trace . If you are using satelite there will be more latency than fiber or copper . To Asia Pacfic your response will be approx 500 ms , Also your response time will also rely on the load of the circuit and the size of your pings .
