Solved: "vlan database" mode; What is it?

When configuring VLANs, what is different between using "vlan database" mode and configure vlan by using interface mode? I have read somewhere that "vlan database" can not do everything abou vlan. Is that true? What command vlan database can not do? If vlan database can not do everything, what "vlan database" mode good for?

Hi,

You can configure normal-range VLANs (from 1-1005) in VLAN database mode, whereas you need to use config-vlan mode to configure extended-range VLANs (1006-4095).

Cisco now generally advises that you use config-vlan mode and not the vlan database mode, which was the older way of doing it.
