"X25 route" & "translate x25" precedence

Folks,

I have an X.25 to TCP translation configured...

translate x25 2776 tcp 192.168.128.114 port 2776 stream quiet swap

.. if I try to delete this with active VCs, I get..

cisco2(config)#no translate x25 2776

%Translate: Can't delete/add entry - Connection(s) are currently active

.. this is real silly.. never have I seen a stack that denies a route deletion because of active connections.. I tried to clear the VCs to allow the deletion but because some of the clients use an agressive reconnect policy.. they can get reconnected before I can re-attempt the no translate command. A drastic solution is to issue a shutdown on the serial port and take the all connections down.

plan B.. I was advised to try to add a "x25 route" command to prevent new connections for the desired trsnalation, take out the active VCs and then delete the translation.

So I added:

x25 route 2776 clear

.. assuming that this would stop any incoming call matching 2776 in the dest DTE.. but it doesn't.. new connections can still be made.

does this mean that translations precede routing? and if so, is there a way of getting routing to precede translations?

Yes, as far as I know, translations precede routing.
