I installed one WAN link on my Fast ethernet . It is of 128 Kbps. Now i want to set the CIR limit of 128 Kbps on it. How can i do it?I gave the command :

rate-limit inupt 128000 16000 16000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

rate-limit output 128000 16000 16000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

But after that bandwidth utilization is increasing upto 200Kbps.

Kindly tell me the solution.

Hi.

rate-limit applies CAR not CIR. The difference is, that CAR (commited access rate) applies to IP traffic on cef switched interfaces, CIR applies to ALL traffic on Frame Relay interfaces. From what you wrote it is not clear what exactly you are doing and what problem you have with getting more throughput than the 128 kbps. Martin.Heusinger@globalknowledge.de
