We are using solarwinds as our management tool for monitoring LAN switches. Currently we are getting tramsmit discard errors on interface sc0.
What are tranmit discards and how do I check this using CatOS ?

A transmit discard , in general, is a packet that was dropped on the output buffer before the packet was sent out.
The sc0 interface is a virtual interface on the switch. Experience has taught me that stats on this interface are not useful. So errors, on the sc0 interface are probably due to normal activity. If there is a problem with the management interface, you will get symptoms like
a) high switch CPU
b) inability to telnet to the switch
c) unable to poll the switch...etc..etc
Constrain the polling to just the real interfaces. If you see errors on those, that's when you should be concerned.

Solarwinds is reporting transmit discards on few of the ethernet (10/100) interfaces on the 6509s which connect to windows servers. No errors only transmit discards.
Some of the interfaces that are ether-channelled are receiving receive discards.
What checks need to be made to avoid transmit and receive discards on these interfaces ?
