I'm trying to construct a serial cross-over cable to simulate a connection between a cisco 2610 and 1605 router. I think the cross-over pins are 1-7 and 2-8. Can anyone confirm this is correct? Thanks.

I looked into this, and it seems that the WIC-1DSU-T1 uses pins 1, 2, 4, and 5. This does not seem to be consistent with other documentation.

Here is the reference for the WIC-1DSU-T1:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps214/products_tech_note09186a00801f5d89.shtml#cables

That would seem to suggest that if you are connecting two of these WIC-1DSU-T1 back-to-back you need 1-4 and 2-5.

This is different from the cable specification for the 1602, which is more like the one you suggest in the original posting:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps214/products_tech_note09186a00801f5d79.shtml#serial

Here is the reference for a WIC-1DSU-56K4, which I think is the model you have:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps214/products_tech_note09186a00801f5d88.shtml#cables

Strange, but there seems to be two different pinouts, one on the WIC-1DSU, and different on the WIC-1DSU-56K4. For the 56K4, it seems to be 1-7, 2-8 as you said.
