All,
I am configuring a Cat 6500 with 2 WS-SUP720-3B engines. How do I configure these two engines for redundany? Is there a configuration for this or do you just install them and the software automatically sets the priority. I am asking because I have never set up 2 engines before. Any help would be great.

Just install the two supervisors and then paste these commands below. This will enable stateful redundancy on the supervisors which is what is recommended.
redundancy
mode sso
main-cpu
auto-sync running-config
auto-sync standard
Please make sure that the supervisors have the same IOS version. And its a good idea to have the IOS versions loaded in disk0: and sup-bootflash: on both supervisor engines and have boot statements like this in the config:
boot system flash sup-bootflash:s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-18.SXD7.bin
boot system flash disk0:s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-18.SXD7.bin

Use "show redundancy" to verify. Output will be similar to this:
sh redundancy

I am trying to add a second sup to an online 6500 system. Assuming all the IOS versions etc. match. Can I just add the second sup and add the redundancy commands?
Will it come online as standby? Are there any steps I need to take to make sure it has a "copy" of the config? Will the process take the switch offline (I assume a reset will be necessary)?
Thanks in advance.

Also, this is a system running Sup1As and I would be adding a Sup1A. Do the commands remain the same?
Thanks
