I have two Cisco 4506s connected via gig uplink ports. There is a DHCP server hanging off one of the swithces. When I plug a PC into the same switch that the server is on DHCP responds immediately. However if I plug the pc into the other switch DHCP takes several seconds to respond. I have tried this numerous times so it is not the switch waiting for an ARP response. Any one seen this problem before or got any suggestions ?
Do you have "switchport host" configured on the DHCP server and client ports? If you have switchport host configured and still see an issue, a sniffer trace of server and client port might shed some light
