SNMP trap and syslog relay using IOS router

Hello

As the number of SNMP TRAP destinations and syslog log destinations increase, keeping a large number of network devices configured with the right destinatinons becomes a fairly large job.

I would like to have one trap-receiver - could be a loopback interface on a central router. That router must duplicate and relay SNMP and SYSLOG messages and send on to each og the "real" trap and syslog receivers. Of cause without changing the source-address of the packets.

"ip helper-address" may do the job if the devices in the network sends to a subnet broadcast address.... or somthing

Can that be done and has anyone tried it?

Cisco Works 2000 can be used to forward SNMP traps, just as many other SNMP management systems. Does that help you?
