software update Catalyst 5xxx

Hello,

as regards the bug CSCdt62732 and the field notice "Cisco CatOS Telnet Buffer Vulnerability"

we have to update the supervisor software on our Catalyst 5xxx switches.

The running CATOS software has the version 4.5(6). We have installed following types of modules:

WS-X5530-E3 with WS-U5534-GESX and 32MB RAM

WS-X5010, WS-X5224, WS-X5225R

WS-X5101

The cisco tool "Software Advisor" recommended the release 4.5(13) (resp. 4.5(13a)).

I think, if we have to update then we should update to the next major release number.

The "Product and Software Version Support Matrix" recommended the release 6.3(3).

Because we are short of money, we can't buy 64MB RAM for each switch.

Therefore we can't take the release 6.3(3).

What is the best software release in our case?

There are any experiences with the release 5.5.13a or later?

thanks

Mathias

5.5.13a is a General Deployment release and hence it should be stable and is. It would also give additional useful features for you (e.g. "show tech",web-interface etc) . So 5-5-13a is a better choice in your case. But make sure you check the release notes for any bugs which may be applicable in your case
