starting of backup

I have low speed serial link connected through 1t serial card in cisco 1601 router. when the reliability of the primary link goes down backup is no starting automatically. if there is any configuration needed in the router what will be the configuration?

Hi,

Backup feature can control only main interface. If main interface is down or load on it increases to a configured value , backup interface may become up. Reliability is not the concern of backup command. If you want to use reliability as backup mechanism , the thing only which comes into my mind is to use EIGRP & configure all metric calculation parameters ( K1,K2,K3,K4,K5 ) to make EIGRP take reliability into account . So metric value will change & DDR path will be chosen when main link reliability decreases. When the reliability become good , main link is choosen for forwarding data.
