Hello all,
I tried to get ROMMON mode on the ME-3600X-24FS-M switch and what I see is not the same described in the cisco guides - I do not see the usual "rommon> " greeting and the are very few avalaible commands in this mode (xmodem and regconfig for example). Is it possible to use rommon and how to download IOS usind xmodem in this mode?
Thanks!
Larysa

Hi,
Thank you! It works!!
We've upgraded IOS ))
we did these steps:
switch: flash_init
switch: set BAUD 115200
then opened new console connection with speed 115200 and issued adviced xmodem command:
switch: copy xmodem: flash: me360x-universalk9-tar.153-3.S2.bin
It is pity that on the cisco.com example for 3600 is wrong and I lost a day to try get the same view on my 3600 rommon.
article on cisco.com "Xmodem Procedure for Downloading a Cisco IOS Software Image onto a Cisco 3600 Router":
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/2600-series-multiservice-platforms/15085-xmodem-generic.html
I notised that outputs in the artilce were from 3800 platform and this is not ok. Maybe it depends from the IOS release ( I had me360x-universalk9-tar.152-2.S1.bin)
Thanks!
Regards,
Larysa

Well, the 3600 router series (3620, 3640, 3660) is one (very old) thing, while the ME-3600X is a whole other thing :)...

Hi Lulian, I know this is an old post but what did you used to as the break command to go to the ROMMON? I'm trying to do a password recovery on my ME-3600X. I've tried Ctr + B, Ctr + SHIFT + 6 + X, Ctr + C, right click on putty - special command - Break for Putty but nothing seem to worked.

I'm not sure about ME-3600X (as I've never worked with any), but on every other Cisco device that I've consoled on using putty, right click -> special command -> break worked perfectly...

Yes, I also tried that but it didn't work. I've found this CSCsi52559: "The Cisco ME-3400G-2CS-A does not support the break sequence from the console
port. As a result, it is not possible to break out of the boot process. This
prevents the user from recovering from a corrupted IOS image or recovering a
lost password." I wonder If it's the same for ME-3600X.
Any other suggestions I should try?
