Hi Experts,
My office with less than 30 employees is looking for new basic office setup with Internet connectivity so, that employees can use Remote access VPN to connect to US DC/Client VPN. Could you pls advice with LAN Switch, firewall model to buy for achieving this basic connectivity.
Looking for Cisco/Cisco Meraki/Other vendor models. Pls suggest a feasible option/solution.
Thanks
Sreeraj

Hi there,
For a small branch like this I would go for a ASA 5506-X to provide the firewall, VPN and routing function with a 2960X-48FPS for switching.

The 5506-X has a throughput of up to 250Mbps, so it should be able to easily support your 30 remote-access VPN sessions.
Out of interest could you not create an IPsec tunnel from this locate to the US DC? This would be more bandwidth efficient.
Another vendor firewall you may consider would be a juniper SRX300. At this end of the spec sheet I think both devices would be similarly priced.
cheers,
Seb.

Thanks. How about Cisco Meraki switch. Could you please provide me an insight on the difference between the Catalyst 2900 series switch compared with the Cisco Meraki switches, from the technology and pricing perspective.
Also, if you can share the contact details of Cisco product resellers in Bangalore,India, It helps.
Cheers

I've no experience of cisco meraki, so cannot advise.
Regarding making a purchase, use the partner locator:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/partners.html
(although the website doesn't appear to be working for me this morning!)
cheers,
Seb.
