Hello,
usually that means that there is a hardware problem, and that the switch has to be returned and replaced. Below is the explanation from Cisco itself.
Where did you buy those switches ? Are they new, and do you still have a warranty ?
A POST failure usually means that there is physical damage to the interface. If an Ethernet Controller which controls four interfaces fails, it results in the failure of those ports. A common cause of
such damage is ESD.
Failure of any of these diagnostic tests is normally fatal and usually requires a Return Material Authorization (RMA) to resolve the problem.
To be sure of this, reset the switch with a console connection established and capture the actual bootup diagnostic information, then create a service request with Cisco Technical Support.
Regards,
GP

Dear GP,
The switches comes froma lot of about 154nos. of 3550 switches procured from cisco thru HCL Inc. They are brand new and still comes under the warranty period from Cisco.
Thanx for the advise, i think i should seriously take up the issue now with th management

This is a shame. I have the same issue and had this switch as part of my lab for my studies. It is the only used PoE switch that I was able to get for a reasonable price.
I guess it's headed to the grave now.
