Sync frame from switch (MAC address 01-00-0c-ee-ee-ee)

I've run across a frame that I can't get some information on.

It's a SNAP frame coming from a Catalyst 5505 on 120 second intervals.

Destination MAC is 01-00-0c-ee-ee-ee with a type code of 2006. The

only thing I've been able to find so far is this:

-----

01-00-0c-ee-ee-ee is a Cisco proprietary protocol called SYNC. It's

sent by the root bridge on VLAN1 every two minutes and helps maintain

an accurate SPT topology. In use since 2.1(6). SNAP fromat with hex

value 2006 as the SNAP type. Contains four bytes of data (00 01 D4 C0)

with 34 bytes of padding.

-----

Does anyone have any additional information on this?

Hi Don,

This document that I found has 01-00-0c-ee-ee-ee in the output of the sh cam sys commands. Not sure if it would be of any help.
