the traffic of a ip packet

i want to analyse the traffic of ip packet from a lab source add via internet to distination add, include from arp in a local lan to routing icmp in the internet, i want to see the detail traffic trail, i m very distrust to this all o long time !

who help me describe this !!!!

Try to use Sniffer type equipment to monitor the traffic. If this is a switch, mirror/SPAN the port to the Sniffer connected port; if it is a WAN link, put Sniffer at the middle of the link between two devices.

You can use NetFlow, but you can see only L3 information (e.g. IP addresses, ports, protocols, src/dst interfaces, etc.) but no content of the packet. If you want know how to configure netflow check the following pages: http://netflow.caligare.com and/or http://www.cisco.com/go/netflow
