It really depends on the application that is running on the WAN. What application do your user experienced slow performance ? You can check the frame-realy interface to check is there any packet drop, BECN or FECN / congestion. IC, what I suggest not to use controller-based AP for site survey. Use an anonymous/standalone AP for easier configuration. Yes, I suggest to setup an AP and use survey tool to test it. I believe if it is running on L3 LWAPP (and the WLC supports), then you can use WAN for WLAN. However, it may be an impact to the WAN bandwidth to have remote LWAPP AP. I suggest to install a WLC module at the router to act as a local WLC. Or use anonymous (standalone) mode for the remote site if there are only a few APs there. Hope this helps. ... View more

Although it is outdoor and I believe we have to carry the site survey as similiar as indoor. e.g. use an AP and site survey tools. I could like to sggest to use a pair 3845 for the 100Mbps connection that can support up to 256Mbps throughput. The second 3845 can be the backup if the primary 3845 down. In normal case, the 100Mbps and 10Mbps will be Ethernet and it also depends on the PTT services. You better check w/ PTT what interfaces they can support then consider the suitable interface. For the remote sites, any 2800 model will be fine and it also depends on the PTT and what interface you need in your offices. I am sorry that I overlooked two links from one ISP and one from another ISP. I agreed w/ Amit's suggestion but you have to consider the CPU loading when use PBR. It is a CPU intensive feature. If you enable the PBR, you have to check the CPU loading in order to consider to upgrade the router model. As I remember, only if you insert the card properly and you can configure the software. i.e. the software can detect the Wi-Fi NIC. Try to check the device manager to ensure the NIC is enabled and no conflict w/ other device. Moreover, if there is built-in Wi-Fi NIC, you may need to disable it first. Did you try to use guest command that suggested by Ben to let the router to broadcast the SSID ? I did not try the WPA-PSK ASCII command, but I believe it should work and you just need to configure the same key in your laptop is fine. I am using this way at my home use (non-Cisco) AP and Wi-Fi notebook. And, what WLAN NIC are you using in the notebook ? Does it work in other WLAN environment ? Hope this helps. ... View more
