Traffic Control for ALTIRIS software distribution

I am having a hard time to control traffic for Altiris applcaiton and the Software side is saying that I need to implement QoS into my core switches (6509-CatOS) in order to avoid network overloading and slow response time. The communication flow is one to many and the Altiris server is direct attached to the Switch. Is there any QoS configuration model for this situation? Can you please indicate where I can find it?
