Hi,
We have a 2650XM router for primary leased line link and a 1721 for ISDN backup link at HQ and we have the same configuration at the remote side.
the local interface for both routers has HSRP enabled. We also have VPN configured on the firewall behind the routers.
The problem is that when the leased line is down, we would assume that the backup router takes over the traffic. We managed to dial up to remote but it the traffic would not route to 1721 until we turn off 2650XM.
It seems like 2650XM would keep its local link to the firewall alive even the WAN link is down.
I heard that this is a known issue for cisco but it it true? Wondering if there are solution to this.
Regards,
Aaron

Are you using interface tracking ???

Hi,
Interface tracking is not configured. However, priority and preempt are used.
Did I miss anything here? Thanks.

Yes, with the configuration you have, the backup router will only take over if the Ethernet of the main router fails. You will have to tell the HSRP in the 2600 to track the serial interface - that is, if the serial interface goes down, it should release control of the Ethernet to the 1700.
