Trunking dot-1q and isl

I am have communication issues between 2 subnets and think it is the trunking but need to confirm it. this is what I have.

2950 switch with a dot-1q hanging off a CAT6509

CAT5000 with isl hanging off the same CAT6509

Shouldn't I be able to communicate between the 2 seen as each device is routing through the CAT6509?

You should be able to if you are showing both trunks as being up and active , if so it is probably just a config issue of some type .
