Trunks and multicast/broadcasts

Is this correct - Say I have 20 VLANS defined on my network and have multicast traffic going over any given trunk....will I have 20 instances of that traffic (one for each VLAN) going over that one trunk?

Would VTP pruning handle this? How about defining the allowed VLANS for that trunk? What is common practice for configuring these trunks - I mean is it good form to make it standard practice to define what vlan traffic is allowed over a trunk?

Thanks in advance.

Michael

Michael,

A vlan corresponds to a broad/multicast domain. Therefore, in your case broad/multicast on any vlan is forwarded ONLY over that particular vlan, not on all of them.
