Is there a way to tunnel E1/T1 traffic from 1 router to another one ? We have to transport E1 traffic between Newbridges through 2 routers (point to point using).Both routers talk through an 34Mb Wan link (HSSI cards).

Well that sounds like CES = Circuit Emulation Service could help you, which is implemented over ATM.
Would that be an option in your setup?

As an alternative to CES, there is a device called IPmux that can transport E1 across an IP network in real-time. I use one to transport E1 signals between legacy phone PABXs across a dark-fibre link betwen two buildings. The device presents E1 to the PABX, and Ethernet to the IP network. I use a version with four E1 interfaces at my central site, which talk to four different sites, each with an IPmux-1. Here is the info:
