Unable to access email server from lan

I have a 1700 series router, and when I am out of the office, I am able to access our email server. But when I am in the office and connect to the LAN (where the server is located at) I get an error message "unable to connect to server". We have a one to one nat established for the public ip address pointing to the assinged ip of the server. Is there a way to correct this without having to set up two settings in outlook to access the email server?

You can set up to different DNS servers - one to resolve DNS requests from outside and another one to resolve DNS requests from inside (LAN). In this case the only thing you need is to connect to your mail server by DNS name instead of connecting by IP address and it will be resolved correctly by corresponding DNS - external when you are out of the office and internal when you are in the office.
