Hi,
I have Windows 2003 Cluster server with two NICs, and virtual IP address. Server is connect to 6513 switch. NIC1 IP address is 192.168.102.227 NIC2 IP address is 192.168.102.228 and the Virtual IP address is 192.168.102.232. I can ping NIC1 and NIC2 IP address from any subnet but can't ping virtual IP address. I can only ping from the same subnet and from the switch. I make sure that the server gateway is correct. I am not sure why is happening, I would be etermally grateful if some provide any input.
Thanks

the mac address is a multicast MAC address. YOu can tell because the 2nd number is odd. In your case is "03". Implement the steps I mentioned earlier.

What MAC address is the 192.168.102.232 address using ? If it is using a multicast MAC address you have to assign a Static ARp on the router ( msfc ).
If the cluster is using a multicast MAC address it is also advisable to add a static multicast CAM entry for both servers on the switch part so that the server traffic is not sent out every port in the server vlan.

When I type sh arp, here it give me the mac addresses
192.168.102.232 at 03-bf-c6-66-ea-e8 on vlan 2
192.168.102.227 at 00-0b-cd-cd-58-2e port 11/34 on vlan 2
192.168.102.228 at 00-0b-cd-b1-20-54 port 11/35 on vlan 2

I add the following line into my MSFC and I am able to ping following IP address from all subnets.
MSFC(config)#arp 192.168.102.232 03bf.c666.eae8 arpa
