Uniquely identifying a router

My company is a Cisco reseller and we have a customer that wants to repurpose unused routers in their inventory instead of buying new from us.   They would send these routers to me for storage and staging.

When I repurpose them, is there something that I could set/change, like a serial number, that would easily show that it's a repurposed machine versus one I sold them?

Thanks

You cannot "change" the serial number.

You may want to enter the "repurpose" code in the SNMP traps, such as "snmp-server contact" or "snmp-server location".

Thank you.  That's exactly what I needed.
