Upgrading HSE from 7.1

Has anyone out there upgraded their HSE to the latest greatest software? We want to move from version 7.1 to the latest version. It appears that you need to upgrade to 7.3. Here is what I get as far as the order of installation:

1) backup our current 7.1 version.

2) Download the various 7.3 image splits and reassmeble it into one ISO image. then burn that image to CD

3) Use this recovery CD to boot and complete installation of 7.3.

4) restore the settings from the backup

5) Install the security patch HSE-1.7.x-CSCsa11584.zip using the repository method.

6) Install the patch HSE-1.8u-K9.zip using the repository method.

Does this sound right?

By HSE version 7.1, I'm assuming that you mean 1.7?. Your steps are correct, since backup made on 1.7 cannot be restored on 1.8, here's the sequence:

1) Make a backup on the exisitng 1.7

2) upgrade it to 1.7.3 via the CDs

3) Restore it on 1.7.3

4) Make sure that the data looks good on 1.7.3 and things are working ok

5) Backup the data again on 1.7.3

6) Upgrade to 1.8

7) Restore the data from 1.7.3 to 1.8

You do not need to install the HSE-1.7.x-CSCsa11584.zip patch in Step 5 since 1.8 has the fix for it already.

Yes I mean 1.7.1 My bad. How come version 1.7.3 is not available as a zip as other previous versions were? that would make it a little easier. That good news that we don't need to upgrade the patch since 1.8 has it!

I don't know wht 1.7.3 is not available as a upgrade .zip file. I guess that's the way it was decided to go.

Anything I should watch for as far as the upgrade is concered? The only thing that looks like it could be trouble is the restore.

As long as the backup/restore is good, and the steps are followed carefully, things should go smoothly.
