Upgrading to 256MB RAM on redundant RSP4 in 7507

Hi,

I need to know in what order I remove the RSP4 in order to upgrade the RAM on a 7507 router. Do I take out the Master first and upgrade it or do I start with the Slave?

The document on upgrading mem on the RSP4 doesn't include anything about redundancy, it just say that I need to power off the router.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps359/products_installation_and_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008009c1b5.html#30167

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Niels

Niels,

I recently performed such an upgrade on my RSP4s. I first upgraded the slave, failed the system over to the slave, then replaced the master (my slot 3) and then failed back to the master to ensure that the upgrade worked. It went better than upgrading from RSP2s to RSP4s!

Good luck...

That was what I had in mind. Thanks for confirmng it. Is there some command that I've missed to force a failover or did you just remove the master and then hope that the redundancy worked? :-)

I'm running IOS 12.0(9) and I don't see any command to force a failover...

Thanks,

Niels
