Hi peter...

are u sure that the hardware requirements of the new ios is ok ? make sure u have the right amount of flash and dram on ur router. otherwise u will not be able to upload the ios.. can u copy/paste us the error message here ? is the old ios still on the router ? which IOS is that ?? please let us know..

Raj

Fails in same spot each time. The router doesn't have any IOS at the moment. I have tried different IOS (verifying requirements ofcourse), to eliminate that as a cause. No luck. Below is the exact error from hyperterm.

Error 7 at offset 805372.

upload: failed (3 seconds), "buffer overflow"

hi stapla

why is there no ios on the flash ? got deleted ? was this router ever working before ?? seems to be some issue with the RAM.. open a case with cisco and get this resolved...

Raj

Same problem here.

I've erased the flash, (after making a backup).

Now, after some experiments i can't up any image at all (even not the original one)

trying tftp, xmodem, all give the same results

boot# boot tftp

Accessing tftp://200.0.0.80/c800-y6-mw.123-6a.bin

TFTP initiated.

|>>>>>>>>>>>>----+----------------+----------------+----------------|

Error 7 at offset 877496.

boot tftp: failed (2 seconds), "buffer overflow"

boot: failed, "buffer overflow"

boot# upload tftp

TFTP initiated.

Error 7 at offset 877496.

upload: failed (2 seconds), "buffer overflow"

boot# list

Status Size Dev Name

------ 48K flash TinyROM-1.2(3)

------ 48K flash TinyROM-1.4(1)

8064K free 8192K total

there is room enough on the flash

i tried with a low speed xmodem setting, and then i could "upload" a litle more. but trying even at 9600baud doesnt allow me to upload the full file.

on the other hand, i tried someting realy special to test the tftp / buffer mechanism. and when i tried to upload an IOS that SHOULD NOT WORK on this version (ive found it on the net). The special part is that IT DID complete succesfully this time!!! (ofcourse it wouldn't run, i didn't even try that option lol)

so what it this problem then?

is it an error in TinyROM-1.4(1) ?
