Ciscoworks2000 discover all my switchs 2950,3548,3550,4006, 4503 and 4506. THe problem is User Tracking can't discover users on 4506, 4006 and 3550.

I use the following IOS:

4506 -> 12;1(20)EW1

4006 -> 12.1(8a)EW1

3550 -> 12.1(20)EA1

When I force User Tracking to discover a 4506 or a 3550 device, it says "Unknown device". But devices are listed in the window !!

Does anyone can help me?

Thanks

Alex

Hi,

Are you sure the devices are up and have the IP addresses changed?

The ANI server could still have the device in it's database even if the device is down.

Dave

Hi,

Of course, all device are Up. I remark that before devices were connected to switch, the vlan were desactivated. Now, vlan are activated, every devices are reachable but User Tracking doesn't discover any end-device.

Alex

Ensure CW2K can access all devices via Server Configuration> Diagnostics> Connectivity Tools> Management Station to Device.

When you verify CW2K has complete connectivity to your devices, follow the steps in this link to troubleshoot UT.

I have complete connectivity (ping,traceroute, ...)

I can't access your URL.

thanks

Make sure your IDU packages are the latest for RME first. Ensure the community strings on the "unknown devices" is the same as the strings input into the CW2K Server. If the snmp query can't connect, you will get the symtpom of "unknown device". Email me if you have any questions.

Sorry about the link--you must have a valid Cisco.com account to access.

Have you tried the online help in CW2K? It provides some excellent tips on what to look for.

You can get to it via the CW2K Web interface:

Campus Manager> User Tracking

While you wait for user tracking to load, click on the Help button on the original CW2K login screen. This should bring you right to the UT On-line Help area.
