Using a 1700 with T1 and ADSL

We are about to move to a new office where we will eventually have a full T1 line. Since the T1 line will take over one month to install, we plan to get an ADSL line as a stop-gap, and then keep it as backup. I am assuming the ADSL install will come with some sort of modem with a single 10-100 ethernet port.

I am looking to buy a 1721 router with a WIC-1DSU-T1. If I also get a WIN-1ENET will I be able to use that to route my ADSL connection until the T1 is up and running? I realize the 1ENET is only 10BT but that's fine as a stopgap.

Once we get the T1, can I keep both WICs? Will the router use both T1 and ADSL simultaneously?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.

Paolo

The 1721 Data Sheet, which is available at the URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/rt/1700/prodlit/1721d_ds.htm lists out the cards supported. The data sheet mentions one of the features as "Comprehensive WAN Support" and states that "The Cisco 1721 support up to two of the WICs listed in Table 3". Table 3 lists both WIC-1DSU-T1 and a WIN-1ENET. I don't see where the problem could lie?

The Cisco 1721 has two interchangeable WAN interface card (WIC) slots. You could use one of the slots for ADSL by using a ADSL (WIC-1ADSL) WIC or When equipped with optional Ethernet WICs by (quote)"enabling deployment with an external broadband modem (such as DSL, cable modem, or wireless modem)often supplied by a service provider as a demarcation point and deployment of a demilitarized zone (DMZ)"(unquote).
