Hi,

Can anybody help me that how many records can we hold in a vmps table/database.

Also how can we interoperate members from one vmps to an other vmps without manually entering mac addresses.

In the VMPS world you have VMPS server switches and VMPS client switches. Only the VMPS server switches are downloading the database file from TFTP server. VMPS client switches do not download the database, but they speak to VMPS servers using the VQP protocol.

There is no way to do incremental uploads of the VMPS database records. After the database change on TFTP server the VMPS server(s) always need to download entire database from the TFTP server. It is simple TFTP download, there is no clever logic in it.

Hi there,

Appreciated for your reply. i already read this article but it didn't help. Again my question was how many records can we hold in a vmps table/database. Also how can we interoperate members from one vmps to an other vmps without manually entering mac addresses.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

We have tested with 22354 record on a model 4503 and that works, but today we have reached some limit because we get this message:2006 Jun 22 12:39:06 %SYS-3-SUP_DNLDAREAEXCEED:Download aborted. File size larger than downloadbuffer

number of records are 23461.

What shall we do?

Regards

Mats

mats,

where this database of VMPS store... i think it will be depends on the size of memory... like NAT...your NAT pools enteries are depends on DRAM... similarly the database of VMPS may also depends on its Memory limitation...

We shall only use this box for VMPS. Nothing else are configured.
