VTP and passwords

I've got a fully functioning VTP domain but I'm not using a VTP password. In order to secure the VTP database from accidental loss, I want to secure it with a VTP password.

From my reading, it would seem that if I add a password to my VTP server, all the clients would discard any VTP info they receive since they won't initially know the password. Will the clients lose their VTP database because of this, or will they retain it as long as I don't reset the clients?

Will the clients work as usual, thus giving me time to telnet to the switches and set the VTP password on them?

Thanks very much.

I've done this in my network with no problem.

To be precise:

I've changed the VTP domain password on my clients (Cat4000) first and then on the server. But AFAIK there should be no difference if you change the password on the server first.
