Hello!

One switch is a member of VTP domain in SERVER mode

Second is a member of the same VTP domain in Client mode

Third switch is a member of VTP domain in clinet mode too.

When I make changes in server switch.

On second switch that is Ok.

On third switch there is a mistake

005709: 3w5d: VTP LOG RUNTIME: MD5 digest failing

calculated = CA 4C 4C 1C 5C D3 DB 47 B0 38 99 BF 3B BA 91 D4

transmitted = 8E D1 A7 2D DC B8 F4 E9 1B 46 E5 29 7E A9 E6 30

The password is the same om all switches.

The revision number is correct(on server is greater)

switches- 2950-24

What kind of problem I faced with?

Sincerely,

Valery

Hi,

it seems like incorrect VTP password configured on the third switch.

Isn't there a space characted typed by a mistake at the end of the password or something like that?

Use sh vtp status to see MD5 digest on the switches.

They are probably different.

I'd try to reconfigure the VTP password on the third switch and check if the MD5 digest gets correct.

Or there might also be similar problem with VTP domain name on the third switch (I think MD5 digest might be computed from VTP password AND domain name).

So I'd also try to reconfigure the VTP name.

Regards,

Milan
